Adults, Elders, Couples
EDUCATION:
M.A., Johnson State College, 2007
B.A., The University of Vermont, 1959
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: I have been a practicing counselor since 1988 and a rostered psychotherapist in private practice since 2000. For ten years I was a residential counselor at a privately operated half-way house for young adults with chronic mental health issues/substance abuse issues. For six years I was a staff psychotherapist at a 40-day residential psychotherapy intensive for adults.
In addition to my formal education, I have attended numerous seminars and trainings in my areas of professional interest. I continue to pursue educational opportunities in order to enhance and inform my helping techniques and understanding.
PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS: I work with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, concerns about aging, work and relationship issues, and abuse issues. I believe that therapy needs to be aligned with the individuals needs, readiness and learning process. I set goals with clients and review them periodically so that we have a map for our work together. I also lead therapeutic writing groups, believing that writing and discussion in a supportive group, enhances self-esteem and relational skills as well as building confidence and improving writing skills.
